Love the Members in this Ward!
Hey Fam!!
This week I realized just how important the ward is in missionary work! and how fun it is to meet interesting people in the ward and out on the streets.
So we were at dinner at a members house on Friday. Their name is the Jamchis. They are a super cool family from Iran and have been converts of about two years. While we were there their neighbors, the Emmichs (a less active family), came over to say hi. We all talked for a bit and as they left the youngest daughter, named Shealee, who is 9, stayed behind because she wanted to hear our message that we were going to leave with the family after dinner. It came out that she hadn't been baptized because her family went less active as she turned 8, but she wants to be a part of the ward and she wants to be baptized! So we are going to meet with her again this week and do a lesson and hopefully get her baptized! The only concern is the parents, but Brother Jamchi told me not to worry and he would act as the middle man for all of it, he's awesome! He also gave us a referral of someone who wants to learn about the church, sadly not in our area, but hey, that person will get a chance to hear the gospel because of him!
The lesson with Bridget fell through. And she didn't show up at church. I was pretty bummed about it all. We have another lesson with her scheduled for Tuesday so hopefully this one works out and we can make some progress with her!!
I have met some awesome people in the ward recently. We were at dinner yesterday at the Muirs house and the Fiscos were there too so there was a bunch of kids and us and it was a pretty crazy time. We were talking to Brother Fisco, who is on the border patrol, and he was telling us all the stories about how he busted people who were smuggling drugs! There was one time he found $750,000 of dope (that's heroin) hidden in a boat! Now that's a boatload of drugs haha. Brother Muir and his family own a company that makes chocolate fountains! Hopefully I'll get a discount on one for us someday. I was also able to try the object lesson where I use the 5 quarters and the matches to make the water go in the cup. I kind of messed up the first time, I let the matches go in the water so they went out, oops, but then I got it right and it was way fun, all the kids loved it and the parents thought it was pretty cool too.
There is also a guy in the ward (Brother Sanders who flies planes for Disney, so he goes to Tokyo and Shanghai and places like that like every week!
While we were checking up on potential investigators and street contacting we met a guy named Art. Right when we talked to him he just immediately had us follow him into his garage and he showed us the company he was starting up (we were pretty confused because that wasn't what we asked him at all haha). But he had the idea to form lettuce into the shape of a bread bun so that people who don't want or can't have bread on burgers will have something to hold it together. I was thinking you Lauren!! but after we got off the subject of entrepreneurship, we talked to him a bit about the Book of Mormon and he said we could stop by later and talk to him, so hopefully that leads to something!
Love you guys!

PS
We were able to have lunch with the bishop and he is such a cool guy. We got a lot done too, talked about a lot of less actives and part member families who could use our help. We are also going to try and get family mission plans/councils going to get the members more involved. Sadly I didn't get to play the bishop in ping pong, there just wasn't enough time, maybe I will get to do it another time.
