Training Again...

Image
Hello everyone!   So transfer calls were this week, and I found out I am training again! I will be staying in Escondido Hills as well. I will pick up my greenie tomorrow night. And I am so excited!  We had some more service projects this week which was fun. It was super hot out tho and we got smoked by the sun.  I got to go to a new leadership training meeting that I was supposed to go to last transfer, but I missed because I was at the temple with Don and Kathy. That was way good! We read a lot from D&C 121, and talked about how to lead with love, and not abuse authority that we have been blessed with.  It has been tough to meet with all of the people we are teaching. David and Fabian and everyone else have been pretty unresponsive. We are just gonna have to work hard and find some new people to teach who are more willing to keep commitments.  I did find out that the Yabut twins are getting baptized this Saturday! So I will be making the trip back to Oceanside again to

District Meeting Visitor...

Hey fam how are you!?  This week was super good! We were able to meet with David a few times and he is really excited about the Gospel! He is really nervous to come to church tho, he is pretty shy so it is hard for him to come to stuff where he doesn't know a lot of people. We will get him there for sure eventually!  One of our investigators Fabian came to church for the first time! It was pretty surprising he came but he said he had a good time. His daughter was being fussy so he only stayed for sacrament.  President came to my district meeting this week. I was super nervous for that but it went really well! A lot of good participation and preparation and it turned out alright.  That's about it, love you guys, Elder Shields The District Me and Bonds

Service and Exchanges...

Hey hey!  This week was awesome, I went on three exchanges and was involved in three different service projects so it was super busy!  First exchange was with Elder Kiehl who is one of the zone leaders, then I went on an exchange with Elder Daniels, who is an elder in my district. He was my zone leader back in Oceanside so I know him pretty well already. The last exchange was with one of the Assistants. His name is Elder Burbank. All of them were way fun! The one with Elder Kiehl I even got to learn a little bit of Spanish and try some Spanish contacts (because he is in El Norte, the Spanish ward here). And on the exchange with Elder Burbank we found a new person to teach named Glen.  The service projects included helping someone move a ton of mulch, moving boxes from a storage unit into a truck, and assisting with a garage sale, helping people load their car and moving stuff around and whatnot.  We had a chance to meet with David this week, he is progressing pretty well! He ha

108 Degrees...

First off happy 4th of July everyone! I love America 🇺🇸 and am grateful for the sacrifices of our forefathers to bring us freedom! On the 4th we had to be off the streets at 6pm, so all the missionaries in the zone met at a church building in the area and played volleyball! It was way fun!  Mother nature sent us some great weather for the week! It only got up to 108 degrees!! Me and Elder Bonds were dying it was sooo hot, we were on bikes for part of it and man, it was a scorcher. Super fun tho.  Slow week as far as investigators go, didn't get an opportunity to meet with any of them.  Zone conference was this week, it was probably my favorite so far! We talked most of the time of Christ like attributes, what they are, how to develop them, why they are so important as missionaries, etc. We spent a lot of time talking about meekness specifically, how it is more than just humility, but the ability to be in tune with the spirit and to take correction.  Yeah that's about

Rashida's Baptism and XXX Burger Challenge...

This week was an awesome week!  Started out good we picked up a super solid investigator named David, he has known a lot of Mormons but never learned about us and decided he wanted to, he has been reading the Book of Mormon and it is looking like he will progress well! We also had a lesson with a part member family, the Foreman's. The husband (the member) married a woman about 6 months ago who is not a member, she hasn't been very open, however, she does come to church with him. We had dinner with them on Friday and brother Foreman called us before dinner and told us we should be ready to give the first lesson when we come. It went well! She is still a little resistant but she is opening up. We might not meet with her for the next couple of weeks. But please keep them in your prayers.  We weren't able to meet with Joan or Josie unfortunately.  Rashida got baptized this week! I was able to go back down to Oceanside again to be there for that one. Elder Phillips got to
