Lost, but now found...

Hey family what it up!?!? It was a really good week this week. We picked up a few solid new investigators! The ones who show the most promise would probably be Amber and Mike. Amber used to meet with the missionaries like 2 years ago but the missionaries just stopped going over for whatever reason and then her record got lost. When we went by she even asked why we had stopped coming and we didn't know haha well she is really open and we are excited to teach her! Mike is a older single guy. He is really big on the fact that we all have agency and can choose good from evil. He is a little agnostic tho so we will have to work with him on priesthood and one true church.  We also had lessons this week with Tammy and Bryan this week. It was super solid, we taught on families and temple ordinances. They are so ready to be baptized but they just don't feel they have an answer yet we will get them this week too! Also taught Kathy and Don Dalphin this week. They are so open to the gosp

First week in O-side and Elder Uchtdorf!

Hey what's up guys!  It was a pretty amazing week!! Started off a little bit rough. Tuesday was sad for sure leaving French Valley, I really love that place and grew to love the people there so much! I was also sick on transfer day so that made it even worse. But my new comp Elder Moroni is super cool! He has been out for 20 months, he is from Manchester England, but he was originally born in São Paulo, Brazil. We get along really well!   The ward I am in is so much different from French Valley. French Valley was all young families. Oceanside 2nd has like three 55 and older communities in the boundaries so there are a lot of older people which is very different. I love the ward tho, there are some awesome people there!   The main investigators we have are Tammy and Brian, they are a super solid couple who were referred to us by a member of the ward. They are getting close to being ready to be baptized! We also found two new investigators this week named Don and Kathy, they ar

Letter from the Bradshaw's...

Elder Shields,  We love you! We wanted to let you know how grateful we are that you came to our part of the Lord's vineyard. You have been such a great friend and blessing in the lives of our family. You have done an amazing work here and you should be so proud of the way in which you have represented the Lord. We are really going to miss you! We've enjoyed having you in our home and always loved the Spirit that you brought with you. You are knowledgeable in gospel, have such a great desire to serve the Lord, and are always so kind and generous. We hope you don't forget us, as we will never forget you. We hope to be able to see you again while you are still in the mission, as missionaries often serve in our stake more than once (and sometimes even in our ward more than once). We also hope you will visit us here again after your mission, if you are ever able. I want to share with you that as we prayed together with you in our home before you left, I felt such a great feeli

Baptism and Transfer...

Hey everyone!!  Pretty big week this week!! First thing that happened and definitely the most important thing that happened this week is that Felix has decided to get baptized!! He is on date right now for March 3rd.  Unfortunately, I will not be around for the baptism as I am getting transferred ☹  I am really sad to leave this area I love the people here sooo much it was definitely really hard telling everyone at church yesterday that I was leaving. But I am excited to be serving in the Oceanside 2nd ward!! My new companion is named Elder Moroni (no joke, he was meant to be a Mormon). Don't know too much about him, only that he is from England and has been out for about 20 months! I will for sure let you know about him when I actually get to meet him myself!  We got to go to Mormon Battalion this week which was a blast. I loved learning about the history of the church a little more in depth.  Also had a special zone conference for technology training. It was a lot of vid

Smartphones!

So this week was super solid I would say.  On Friday night we picked up our smartphones so that was pretty weird. I am emailing with it right now haha it is super weird to be typing on this instead if having to go to a computer lab. I am super stoked for how much they are going to help in proselyting tho. We won't have to use paper teaching and progress records anymore and we can always have our ward list and a GPS on us. We can FaceTime people to do lessons. We can proselyte on Facebook. It really just adds so much to what we are able to do!! Plus I can email all day now instead of just the hour and a half I used to get.  We had a huge miracle this week!! We met a man in Wednesday by the name of Felix Chavez. We talked to him while he was raking leaves in his yard. And after like 5 minutes of talking to him said that he already has a Book of Mormon and has been reading it. He has a brother who is LDS who has been talking to him about the church and he has already wanted to go
