Exchange Miracles and Smart Phones!

Pretty Solid week this week! We found out that our mission will be transitioning to smart phones in the next month or so, so that will be super weird! We will also be using facebook, which is definitely something I was not going to be able to look at for like another 19 months.

Had an interesting lesson with Shaelee and her fam. We have been trying to get her to come to church for a long time, but she just doesn't have the support from her parents to get her to go. While we were in the lesson Sister Emmich basically told us that Shaelee playing softball comes before her going to church. That girl needs to sort out her priorities (hopefully everyone gets that movie quote). We will continue to work with them, but the fact that they just don't place any importance on church attendance is making is very difficult for Shaelee to progress towards baptism.

Also went on exchanges with the zone leaders. I went with Elder Pond this time and quite a bit happened! We finally got back in contact with Richard and his family, they invited us to come back on Thursday! Elder Snyder will be on exchanges with Elder Blackham (the district leader) then so I will be praying very hard for their success! I have faith that Elder Snyder will do well without me there! We also went by a former investigator by the name of Antonio, he was taught two short lessons like a year and a half ago and then fell off the face of the earth pretty much. We knocked, he opened up and let us right in! Me and Elder Pond were able to teach him and he is awesome! Has an incredible testimony of Jesus Christ already! It was lucky we caught him because he is leaving to go to Mexico for a week or so, but we will continue to teach him when he gets back next week!!

On Sunday night we were also able to do a family home evening with a member family, they invited their nonmember friend and we got to teach her a little bit as well! We will be following up with the family (the O'Briens) to see how their friend (Jennifer) responded to everything and see if she would like to take the lessons!

That's pretty much it folks, just living it up in sunny California!!

Love you all,

Elder Shields
