Don and Kathy's Baptism!

Image
So this week was crazy. First and foremost was Don and Kathy's baptism! It was such an awesome experience! Kathy also asked me to baptize and confirm her which was super cool!  We started working with another part member couple. The guy is the member and his name is Rey, and his non member girlfriend who lives with him (that will have to change, haha) whose name is Vicky, she is really interested and we are going to start meeting with them twice a week. Rey is also a musician and he always sings for us when we go over, it's awesome. I'll get a video next time.  I also got my transfer doctrine and I will be staying in O2. My new companion's name is Elder Phillips and he seems like a way cool guy, I am really excited to work with him! I won't meet him till tomorrow but I'll let you know about him when I actually get to know him.  Other than that, just working with a few other investigators. Tammy and Brian are doing well, they still come to church but they ...

Crazy Week...

This last week was totally crazy.  Don and Kathy are gonna get baptized this week! We decided to move their date up to the 24th because they are just so ready. They have been taught all the lessons and are keeping all the commandments, they just need an interview this week and they are ready to go! Kathy has also asked me to baptize and confirm her! I am so excited! It has been so awesome working with them and watching them grow and progress in the Gospel, and I will be excited to see them continue to grow.  We are going to start working with a part member family as well. Brother Johns is a semi active member who has a non member girlfriend, Rashida Rice. Rashida's daughter is also a non member, and brother Johns has brought them to church a few times. His girlfriend wants to get baptized but she can't unless they get married or she moves out, but we will still be able to work with her and her daughter!  Unfortunately, Elder Moroni got emergency transferred...

Hey guys how are you all doing!? I've been doing pretty good thank you for asking.  This week was pretty awesome. The highlight would for sure be that we got to meet with Amber this week. And when we got there for the appointment her husband joined in and now we will be teaching both of them! They are both so cool and way interested in the Gospel. Her husband's name is Brandon. He is a Free Mason and I learned a lot of interesting things about how Masons and Mormons have similar principles.  Don and Kathy are still doing really well! They just soak up all they can during our lessons and love learning! They have really felt the Gospel change their lives and it is so awesome to be a part of that change and to watch it happen!  Tammy and Brian have decided that March 17th will be too early for their baptism, we will still be teaching them them but they just need a little more time to come to know that this is the true church.  We also got to work with a mini mi...

I Love Oceanside...

This week was pretty awesome!  To start it out I got to go on exchanges with Elder Meyer (who was my MTC comp). His comp is the DL. We served in their area which is right on the beach so we got to proselyte right on the beach for the first couple hours it was awesome! Way fun to catch up with him and see what we have learned and how we've grown since the MTC.  Also so had some way solid lessons with Tammy and Brian, as well as with Don and Kathy. We put all four of them on date for baptism! Tammy and Brian are on the 17th and Don and Kathy are one the 31st of this month. Super excited for them and the part I got to play. We still have a lot of work to do with both of them, but I know they will be ready by then! Also all four of them came to church.  Our other investigators are Mike and Warren, we are working on trying to get them to church. We weren't able to meet with Amber but we will see her this week.  For Pday today we went to a driving range and hit so...

Lost, but now found...

Hey family what it up!?!? It was a really good week this week. We picked up a few solid new investigators! The ones who show the most promise would probably be Amber and Mike. Amber used to meet with the missionaries like 2 years ago but the missionaries just stopped going over for whatever reason and then her record got lost. When we went by she even asked why we had stopped coming and we didn't know haha well she is really open and we are excited to teach her! Mike is a older single guy. He is really big on the fact that we all have agency and can choose good from evil. He is a little agnostic tho so we will have to work with him on priesthood and one true church.  We also had lessons this week with Tammy and Bryan this week. It was super solid, we taught on families and temple ordinances. They are so ready to be baptized but they just don't feel they have an answer yet we will get them this week too! Also taught Kathy and Don Dalphin this week. They are so open to the gosp...

First week in O-side and Elder Uchtdorf!

Hey what's up guys!  It was a pretty amazing week!! Started off a little bit rough. Tuesday was sad for sure leaving French Valley, I really love that place and grew to love the people there so much! I was also sick on transfer day so that made it even worse. But my new comp Elder Moroni is super cool! He has been out for 20 months, he is from Manchester England, but he was originally born in São Paulo, Brazil. We get along really well!   The ward I am in is so much different from French Valley. French Valley was all young families. Oceanside 2nd has like three 55 and older communities in the boundaries so there are a lot of older people which is very different. I love the ward tho, there are some awesome people there!   The main investigators we have are Tammy and Brian, they are a super solid couple who were referred to us by a member of the ward. They are getting close to being ready to be baptized! We also found two new investigators this week named Do...

Letter from the Bradshaw's...

Elder Shields,  We love you! We wanted to let you know how grateful we are that you came to our part of the Lord's vineyard. You have been such a great friend and blessing in the lives of our family. You have done an amazing work here and you should be so proud of the way in which you have represented the Lord. We are really going to miss you! We've enjoyed having you in our home and always loved the Spirit that you brought with you. You are knowledgeable in gospel, have such a great desire to serve the Lord, and are always so kind and generous. We hope you don't forget us, as we will never forget you. We hope to be able to see you again while you are still in the mission, as missionaries often serve in our stake more than once (and sometimes even in our ward more than once). We also hope you will visit us here again after your mission, if you are ever able. I want to share with you that as we prayed together with you in our home before you left, I felt such a great feeli...
